Breguet’s Tradition collection flaunts its old-fashioned open dial layout that exposes the movement’s going train and escapement to recall traditional 18th century and 19th century pocket watches. The collection has been a hit since its debut in 2005. Last year, when Breguet added a 37mm jeweled white gold model called Tradition Dame 7038, women cheered that a Tradition is finally being made with a more feminine design. Hearing these accolades, Breguet this week expanded the Tradition Dame 7038 collection with a new rose gold model in an early Baselworld 2017 release. Echoing that earlier debut, the new watch’s offset and beautifully engraved white mother-of-pearl dial again displays the time overlapping a central barrel decorated with a hand-engraved rosette. In full view, the movement’s gear trains turn above a sandblasted mainplate and rhodium-plated bridges. The bezel is set with 68 brilliant-cut diamonds, while a watch jewel decorates the crown. The pieces is powered with Caliber 505SR with a hammer shaped rotor (inspired by the early automaticwinding mechanism invented by Breguet), lever escapement with silicon pallets and a Breguet balance-spring, also made of silicon. Prices have not yet been announced.
