This year marks Jaeger-LeCoultre’s 180th anniversary as well as the brand’s long-time partner Aston Martin’s 100th anniversary. In celebration, the two luxury brands teamed up to host the “Anniversary Follow the Drive” event last month.
Among the event’s festivities, Aston Martin Racing Works driver Darren Turner lead a group of watch and car enthusiasts on an adventure from Aston Martin’s headquarters in Gaydon, England to the Vallee de Joux where Jaeger-LeCoultre took root in 1833.
Turner competes for Aston Martin Racing in Le Mans and Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) Grand Tourer World Championships. The 39-year-old driver has been a key member of the Aston Martin Racing team since 2005.
Participants in the excursion were given the opportunity to drive Aston Martin’s latest creations while wearing Jaeger-LeCoultre watches from the Aston Martin collaborative collection.
Additional highlights of the trip included a stop at the manufacture’s Paris boutique located on the Place Vendome as well as interacting with watchmakers at the Jaeger-LeCoultre manufactory.
“The dedication, skill and passion of everyone at Jaeger-LeCoultre is truly impressive, a great display of teamwork,” Turner said.
Among the watches shared at the “Anniversary Follow The Drive” event were three new timepieces created in celebration of the brands’ respective milestones.
The Master Compressor Extreme W-Alarm Aston Martin watch features a world time display and powerful alarm function as the name suggests. In addition, the 46.3mm titanium and stainless steel case is optimized to absorb shock and guarantee precision in all situations.
The Master Hometime Aston Martin embodies the collection’s characteristic red, black and white color palate with its open-worked hour hand that indicates the time at home while the traveler is away. A 24-hour counter occupying the upper hemisphere of the dial further distinguishes day and night. When the wearer arrives back at home, the separate hour hands are synchronized to show a single time zone until the next long-distance trip.
The AMVOX5 World Chronograph Cermet features an inner bezel ring indicating the cities for the world time display, and two chronograph counters on either side of the axis created by the central chronograph hand. Another highlight of this watch is its case forged with reinforced cermet, a high-tech material composed of an aluminum core and ceramic particles covered with a 40-micron thick protective ceramic coating.
