In this post, we invite you to take a look at three Calatrava wristwatches Patek Philippe made especially for the exhibition. Consider this your final reminder to make time to visit the extravaganza in New York before it closes at the end of the weekend.
Jazz

Pictured on the dial is a silhouette of a pianist in New York’s Blue Note club. The musical staff indicates the opening notes of Sidney Bechet’s “Petite Fleur” in this tribute to the American-born art of jazz music. The artist used the technique of miniature painting on enamel with three little flowers enriched with gold spangles to portray the notes. The Manhattan skyline is also finely etched into the layer of black enamel. The white-gold case is fitted with a hinged dust cover to protect a sapphire-crystal display back. The 38.6mm watch, fitted with a Caliber 240 ultra-thin movement, is made as a limited edition of ten watches.
Grand Canyon

A richly detail work of wood marquetry, this dial required cutting and assembling (on a gold plate) 209 tiny pieces of wood and 70 inlays, some of them barely visible to the naked eye. The white-gold case is endowed with a hinged dust cover protecting a sapphire-crystal display back, through which one may admire the caliber 240 ultra-thin self-winding movement. This 38.6 mm Calatrava is a limited edition of 10 watches.
Sheridan Style

Inspired by the traditional Sheridan style of leather carving and embossing, the dial of this limited-edition Calatrava wristwatch showcases decorative engraving. Combining modeling and hammering techniques, the engraver required sixty hours to create these ornamental flowers and leaves that are seen emerging from a hammered background. Once engraved, the gold plate was coated with transparent golden-brown enamel to enhance the contrasts of color. The bezel and lugs are set with 113 diamonds while the buckle sparkles with 29 diamonds. The rose-gold case is endowed with a hinged dust cover protecting a sapphire-crystal display back, through which one may admire the caliber 240 ultra-thin self-winding movement. The 38.6 mm watch is made as a limited edition of 10 watches.
