One World Trade Center Observatory was the dazzling venue for last week’s launch of the Montblanc Meisterstück Petit Prince collection of pens and men’s accessories. And the guest list was as stellar as the nighttime sky over Manhattan. Hugh Jackman, Charlotte Casiraghi, Chloe Sevigny and many other high-profile celebrities and guests were there to help celebrate the dual message of Montblanc and the Little Prince—a message that honors imagination, dreams and the value of relationships. The products, conceived under the direction of Montblanc creative director Zaim Kamal, feature elements based on “Le Petit Prince” author Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s hand-drawn illustrations that accompany the beloved book, which was originally published in 1943.
The three versions of the writing instrument are available as a fountain pen, rollerball pen and ballpoint, each with a golden star engagingly poised on the clip and a specially engraved gold nib. To further emphasize the literary reference, a sentence from the book is laser engraved on the crown of each pen.
The Meisterstück Le Petit Prince Special Edition Precious Resin is crafted from night-blue resin evoking the color of the boundless universe that both captivates and sometimes mystifies the Little Prince. The milled cap is decorated with a tone-on-tone fox face pattern, which is in reference to the sage animal character that shares with the young boy about human relationships.
Other versions pair a blue lacquer barrel with a platinum-coated cap engraved with a fox pattern or are embellished with a contrasting fox pattern on the deep blue lacquer of the cap and barrel.
Montblanc Petit Prince Resin Classique
Montblanc has also created a special ink and refills inspired by the astute fox, in a deep orange color meant to recall his burnished coat. Other accessories include round stainless steel cufflinks with a deep blue lacquer and fox face design, a stainless steel and blue lacquer money clip and a men’s woven leather bracelet with a stainless steel clasp embellished with a yellow star.
A complementary leather notebook, to pen one’s thoughts or perhaps even a novella of one’s own, is also available. It is bound in Saffiano leather and the cover is decorated with an illustration based on Saint-Exupéry’s drawings.
