Jaquet Droz unveiled the first Lady 8 Flower three years ago, marking the brand’s first-ever automaton collection dedicated to women.
This week Jaquet Droz expands this collection with two new watches, each issued in a limited edition of eight pieces.
Each watch is powered byJaquet Droz 615, a self-winding movement with silicon balance spring and pallet horns and platinum oscillating weight.
In the white gold version, the new Lady 8 Flower depicts the Lotus, a spiritual symbol that represents beauty and the cycles of life. Here, gold hands sweep across a dial decorated with floral motifs while a dome-shaped blue Grand Feu enamel dial blooms with Lotus flowers engraved in bas-relief.
The second watch, with its almost translucent white dial, showcases a bouquet of flowers, all carved from mother-of-pearl. Each watch is set with 249 diamonds on the bezel, ring and buckle.
As is always the case with Jaquet Droz, watching the animation is a thrill. When pressed, the pusher at 2 o’clock activates a lotus flower with gold petals that open to reveal either a diamond or a sapphire. The precious stone is also animated, moving in opposite directions as the Lotus opens and closes in a beautifully orchestrated eight-second live-action treat.
As the lotus opens and closes in eight seconds, it displays every facet of the briolette.
