Cartier this week previewed a new skeleton model slated to officially debut during next month’s SIHH watch show in Geneva. The new model, the Tank MC Two-tone Skeleton, continues Cartier’s ongoing series of contemporary skeleton watches.
Within its Tank line, this steel and gold edition is the brand’s first two-tone version of the Calibre 9611MC, an in-house manual-wind movement, featuring the large Roman numerals (which double as the calibre’s bridges) that characterize Cartier skeleton models.
The color treatment accentuates the Cartier identity. The dark areas, created with a specialized galvanic finish, evoke the technical nature of the movement while the various angles are coated with a fine pink gold layer that matches the 34.5 mm x 43.8 mm pink gold case and highlights Cartier’s traditional hand-chamfering. The two barrels, opened as a visual treat thanks to sapphire crystals on both sides of the 9.3 mm thin case, allow about a three-day power reserve. A brown alligator-skin strap, with pink gold double adjustable buckle, and a faceted blue sapphire on the crown finish the piece.
