TAG Heuer’s New Green Deals

As we noted in our newsletter, TAG Heuer has added two green-dialed Aquaracer models to that sporty collection. Unusually, even the smaller 32mm model is dive-ready and features the same 300-meter water resistance rating as the larger (43mm) model. TAG Heuer has also retained the unidirectional rotating bezel, the screw-down-crown and the luminescent hands and markers in the smaller model in its effort to maintain Aquaracer’s diver specifications across all watch sizes.

But maintaining these technical specifications didn’t hamper TAG Heuer’s ability to create a different dial and bezel design for the new 32mm Aquaracer. Both watches are boldly green, but the larger watch shows us a much richer green sunray pattern with horizontal lines that run across the dial. Whether or not they actually resemble wooden sailboat docks as TAG Heuer asserts is your call, but they are quite distinctive and serve to set the new green Aquaracer apart from brethren.

The larger watch shows us a rich green sunray pattern with horizontal lines that run across the dial.

This larger dial also differs from the smaller model with its magnified date window and its bolder bezel. Where the small watch offers simple cutout numerals on its bezel, the larger model emphasizes the numerals with black lacquer, echoing the triangle marker at 12 o’clock.

The new 32 mm counterpart emphasizes its diamond hour markers rather than its bezel, though it does offer a sunray green dial, presented here without the horizontal lines. There is a date window at 3 o’clock on the dial and a triangle marker at 12 o’clock on the bezel.

The new 32 mm Aquaracer emphasizes its diamond hour markers rather than its unidirectional rotating bezel.

Both watches are made of steel and presented on stainless-steel bracelets. At the heart of the 43 mm model ($2,250) is an ETA- or Sellita-based Caliber 5 automatic movement. A quartz movement powers the 32mm model ($2,150).

Both watches are equipped with the six standard diving features of all models in the Aquaracer collection: the previously noted water resistance to 300 meters, unidirectional rotating bezel, screw-down crown and luminescent hands and markers, plus the Aquaracer’s standard double security clasp and sapphire crystal.
