Hublot and the Miami HEAT’s Ray Allen raised $191,000 on Monday for the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation (DRIF) and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) after auctioning three special edition timepieces. The three timepieces included a Ray Allen King Power, Ray Allen Big Band and Ray Allen Classic Fusion.
The auction was held at La Gorce Country Club on Miami Beach at the Ray Allen Golf Classic Dinner. HEAT players from the past and present participated in the Ray Allen Golf Classic golf tournament during the day of the event. While the gentlemen were golfing, ladies dined at the Ray of Hope Luncheon, hosted by Shannon Allen and Andria Holtz. Many HEAT family members, including wives and girlfriends of the players, attended the luncheon, during which, Shannon discussed her fight to cure diabetes and her son Walker’s daily battle.
“We are elated that our inaugural Ray Allen Gold Classic and Ray of Hope Ladies Luncheon, our first event in Miami, was such an enormous success,” Allen said. “The support that we received from our presenting sponsor and partner, Hublot, exceeded every expectation. Grateful, thankful, honored… these words do not accurately express our gratitude for their commitment to raising awareness and funds for the JDRF and DRIF in honor of our son, Walker.”
Following the tournament, participants gathered for a sit-down and live auction. During the auction, the Ray Allen King Power was in such high demand that Hublot agreed to create a duplicate for the second highest bidder. Hublot had other pieces at the event available for purchase where 15 percent of proceeds went to the foundations. The timepieces are also available at Hublot’s Bal Harbour boutique, where 15 percent of proceeds will benefit the foundations until Monday, March 2. The event raised close to $500,000 in total after Hublot’s contributions.
