Fifteen watch companies displayed new products and innovative techniques at the third TimeCrafters public watch show at New York City’s Park Avenue Armory last month. Visitors, from curious enthusiasts to (many) members of New York City’s watch collector community, saw a wide range of horological debuts by all the companies, some of which set up benches where watchmakers worked on complicated movements and engravers created masterpieces in precious metal. Nearly all the companies offered visitors access to top company executives and designers who fielded questions about products, prices, designs and company history.

In addition to the company watch displays (which in some cases included North American debuts) the large-scale space offered seminars on watchmaking history, style and fashion and watch collecting, while visitors lined up to have watches valued by auctioneer Christie’s, which offered valuations for several hours each day. Christie’s also displayed vintage timepieces at its Art of Collecting exhibit while time-themed photographs were displayed by New York’s Emmanuel Fremin Gallery, which offered images by Christophe Pouget.

Lange & Söhne, Audemars Piguet, Bulgari, Chopard, Christophe Claret, De Bethune, Frederique Constant, Hublot, HYT, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Parmigiani, Richard Mille, TAG Heuer, Urwerk and Zenith. All the brands showed their latest debuts, some of which were seldom seen outside of Switzerland or Glashütte.
