Last night at the newly reopened Rainbow Room – at the Top of the Rock in New York City, Patek Philippe celebrated its 175th anniversary. The breathtaking views of New York’s skyline were rivaled by the intriguing and alluring commemorative timepieces the brand had on display for the event. This US celebration is the only non-Geneva anniversary event happening in the world. The reason: the USA has so many customers it was difficult to bring them all to Geneva for the celebration. Instead, USA press, retailers and top clients are enjoying two days of festivities that mark the 175th anniversary.
According to Thierry Stern, global President of Patek Philippe about this historic anniversary and the incredible new products to honor it, “It is about showing our customers that we continue to strive to do more, to show the world that we can do things that others cannot do. It is not about being better than others. It is about being the best we can be as Patek Philippe.”
For the anniversary, the brand released the Grand Masterchime watch – a superb grande and petite sonnerie, minute repeater, chiming date and patented alarm that strikes the time. It is the brand’s most complicated wristwatch with more than 1360 parts. Better yet: it has a reversible case that was years in the making. This watch, along with a new Chronograph, jump hour, world timer and some rare handcrafts were all on display last night.
