The list of watchmakers Harry Winston has enlisted to create its annual Opus debuts reads like a “Who’s Who” of the watchmaking industry. While several of the watchmakers were known to collectors prior to their work with Winston’s Opus, the series has advanced the careers of more than a few of the participants over its fourteen-year history.
In addition to placing watchmakers into the spotlight, the Harry Winston Opus program also expanded the influence of Maximilian Busser, who was Harry Winston Rare Timepieces CEO through 2005, when he left to found MB&F. Also, Hamdi Chatti, currently overseeing Louis Vuitton’s watch division, and former Cartier USA Chief Frédéric de Narp, who is now in charge at the Bally Group, each spent several years each at the helm of Harry Winston prior to the Swatch Group purchasing the brand three years ago. Now Nayla Hayek oversees Harry Winston and has directed the creation of Opus 14.
