With last year’s Bohème ExoTourbillon Slim 110 years Anniversary Limited Edition 10 Montblanc continued to add new models to the Bohème series of complicated watches for women, a collection first seen in 2014. This week Montblanc builds up Bohème once again with this purple-hued Montblanc Bohème ExoTourbillon Jewellery Motif Serpent Limited Edition 18.
These are 38mm red gold or white gold watches, each with an artisanal dial and the always impressive Montblanc ExoTourbillon, which vies for attention on these hand-wrought, multi-layer serpentine-themed dials. Each gilded and gemstone-infused dial is as much a work of art as the patented ExoTourbillon automatic caliber MB M29.24 inside.

The one-minute ExoTourbillon, in which the weight of the tourbillon cage is separated from the balance wheel to improve precision, took more than three years to research and produce at the former Minerva facility in Villeret. Thanks to the watchmaker’s utilization of a micro-rotor, one can admire the movement through a sapphire crystal caseback. The dials feature detailed, handcrafted decorations like gem-setting, miniature gold-work and hand-painted lacquer—all over white mother-of-pearl.

Beyond the dial and movement, the case offers nicely curved and faceted lugs, a sculpted onion crown, and bezels set with diamonds. Of special note is the mirror polishing on the red gold-plated tourbillon bridge in the shape of a twirling stick. Montblanc also satin-finishes the main plate and creates a sunray finishing on the plate below the micro-rotor.

The Bohème ExoTourbillon Jewellery Motif Serpent Limited Edition 18 comes fitted with a matching purple alligator strap with large scales and a 18-karat gold pin buckle set with a diamond surrounded by the Montblanc emblem’s engraving. As is always the case at Montblanc, the watch is tested for more than 500 hours and is certified by the Montblanc Laboratory Test 500. Price: Upon request.
