Rado had a busy schedule Monday night. The Swiss watch brand celebrated its affiliation with tennis and with tennis great Andy Murray for World Tennis Day. In fact, brand ambassador Andy Murray faced off against Novak Djokovic in a charity fundraiser event at Madison Square Garden In New York. The BNP Paribas Showdown saw the two go head to head for more than a dozen matches – all for charitable causes benefitting different tennis affiliations.
At one point, after missing a volley, Djokovic got down and did a few pushups to a cheering crowd. Similarly, Murray, who made a wild dash almost over the edge of the court into the audience to return a volley, stopped long enough to smile and shake the hand of the woman he almost fell into. Kicking off that highlight event was a match between the famed Bryan Brothers and the McEnroe brothers. In all it was a light, fun, enjoyable evening.
Before the Madison Square Garden event, Rado officially debuted its Esenza Ceramic Touch at the nearby Hour Passion boutique (which houses the Swatch Group’s more affordable brands). While this watch made a brief appearance in BaselWorld 2013, it is not officially making its debut until the upcoming 2014 BaselWorld.
The vertical oval-shaped watch – crafted in black or white ceramic – is crown-free. Time is changed by pressing and sliding your fingers along the case to set the hours and minutes. The incredibly tactile watch offers something not seen on any other ladies model currently sold.
