As the Google Glass initiative progresses, the emerging technology has caught the eye of watch brands, Frederique Constant and Alpina. The two brands recently joined the Official Google Glass Explorer Program with foresight to implement the product into intra-company and business-to-consumer communications. The Google Glass Explorer Program is a means for businesses and individuals to help shape the future of Google Glass.
Specifically, Frederique Constant and Alpina plan to utilize the tool for sales representatives to ensure displays and merchandise are in accordance to brand guidelines in their over 2,800 world-wide locations. Sales representatives will be able deliver images and information through an in-house developed App for both Android and iOS devices. In addition, the product will be used to access tutorials on merchandizing as well as technical information for each timepiece, on-demand.
“Leading innovation and embracing technologies in a luxury way is what our brands are all about, so this union is quite logical,” President of Alpina Frederique Constant Americas and lead in the brand’s Google Glass Initiative, Ralph Simons said. “Since gaining membership to the Google Glass Explorer Program, we have been actively developing best approaches to integrate these smart glasses into new and existing brand processes.”
