While International Watch’s team saw numerous complicated timepieces at the most recent BaselWorld debut fest, we also noted that watch companies were sure to provide at least one weekday special model for those who prefer to not wear a host of wristwatch features under a dress shirt during a busy workweek. We found that among the chronographs, tourbillons and diving bezels were watches that simply offered the wearer the hours, minutes, maybe seconds and possibly the date. Typically smaller in diameter, especially this year when heritage-based designs were seen show-wide, these dressy dials offer the least information, but do it with class and with an understatement that won’t soon lose its utility. Many of these watches are from brands you likely already expect to have a perfect dress watch, such as Omega, Breguet and Movado, but others are from companies like Tudor, Ball Watch and Maurice Lacroix, generally known for their chunkier sports watches.
We’ve compiled this look at just a few of the classic dials we noted at the weeklong show. Scroll over the images for an expanded view.
